Easy Trick to Make Your Dog "Drop" for Fetch

IMG_20190920_164530.jpg

Do you have trouble getting your dog to drop the toy during fetch? Have you tried playing with two toys?

Toss one toy for your dog. When he runs off to get it, pick up the second toy and hold it by your shoulder. When you dog returns, continue holding the second toy by your shoulder until he drops the first. Toss the second toy. Repeat.

This gives him motivation to drop the toy without creating conflict or a battle over who gets the toy.

If it doesn't seem to be working, try playing with two identical toys before giving up!
And remember: your dog's favorite part of fetch might be crunching the toy in his mouth--not chasing it.
