Dog Training for Reactive Dogs

Transform your dog’s triggers into triumphs

You envisioned pleasant walks with your dog, but things aren’t going as planned.

Instead of peacefully enjoying the outdoors together, you’re on edge—dreading the moment another dog appears and triggers a barking, lunging meltdown.

Trainer Leighann loves working with reactive dogs using science-based, positive-reinforcement techniques!

Certified Dog Trainer Leighann uses positive-reinforcement for all dogs — including reactive dogs.

With Koinonia’s in-home dog training you get a dedicated positive-reinforcement professional to guide you and your dog to quieter, stress-free adventures.

“Leighann is very knowledgeable on the material we worked on. Both Harley and I are feeling more confident and ready to continue our journey!”

Reactive Dog Training Process

Step #1: Initial Consultation

Meet with the dog trainer to share about your dog’s behavior, identify goals, and receive recommendations across three areas:

  • Prep: products and/or supplies you’ll need to train your reactive dog

  • Act: things you can do, right away, to start changing your dog’s behavior

  • Next steps: a program recommendation to thoroughly address your goals

Cost: $260, virtual

  • Not necessarily! Just as an allergist wouldn’t induce anaphylactic shock before treating you, dog trainers do not need to witness the wrong behavior in order to treat it.

Instead, we ask lots of questions to understand what’s happening and determine a plan.

We also don't want your dog getting any better at reacting to other dogs - he's good enough at that already!

Step #2: Follow-Up Sessions

Your follow-up program includes:

  • In-Home Training Sessions to lay a foundation of skills and communication.

  • Practice Walks to apply what you’ve learned and get instant feedback from the professional.

  • Support. Got questions between sessions? Shoot the dog trainer a text or email.

  • Reactivity is a common problem but each dog a family is unique.

Most families can expect four to eight follow-up sessions held over six to twelve weeks.

The trainer will make a specific recommendation after learning more about your dog and his behavior.

Follow-up programs run $480-$960 total. Payment plans available.
